Festival Season

Summer days are stitched together with a string of family-favorite festivals and events in Susquehanna County. The charms of small-town living are proudly on display as the region prominently celebrates everything from America’s birthday to blueberries. Here are just a few of the events on tap this season in Susquehanna County!


MAY 18

The Montrose Wine Walk brings a day of wine and entertainment to Public Avenue – the heart of historic downtown Montrose. In addition to serving up pours from Pennsylvania’s premier wineries, the festival also features artisan and craft vendors, food and live music. Don’t miss the opportunity to check out the town’s unique shoppes and art galleries. The Montrose Wine Walk is sponsored by the United Way of Susquehanna County and proceeds fund the vital programs aimed at “helping kids do well” and safety net programs in the county. https://montrosewinewalk.com/



Midtown Fest in New Milford brings vendors, games and entertainment to the village green on Main Street (State Route 11). There is a chicken barbecue and a pie baking contest. https://newmilfordborough.org/

JUNE 13-16

The Vietnam Veterans Traveling Memorial Wall comes to the grounds of Hallstead American Legion Post 357 on New York Avenue, Hallstead. Special events are planned for each day. The Memorial is open from 1pm on Thursday, June 13 until 3pm on Sunday, June 16. Plan to attend one or all of the ceremonies. Montrose July Fourth Festivities race off the starting line in the morning with the annual 5K and 10K runs with multiple prize categories and age brackets. Artisan and craft vendors fill the Green for shoppers looking for one-of-a-kind items. Chicken barbecue dinners are available. The Patriotic Parade is the hallmark event of the celebration – stretching out over a mile and featuring bands, floats, organizations and community groups. This year’s parade theme is “USA – Living & Working Together in Unity.” The festivities culminate with a giant fireworks display held at the local high school. https://www.montrosepajuly4th.com/

JULY 17-20

Rediscover the heart of the Erie Railroad’s shop town, Susquehanna Depot during its Hometown Days celebration. The multi-day event features rides, games, food and vendors, as well as a parade, fireworks and live entertainment each night. https://susquehannaborough.com/

JULY 25-27

The Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company’s annual picnic offers up food, games, a parade, fireworks and a chicken barbecue.



Summer’s sweetest berry takes center stage at the annual Blueberry Festival, held on the Green in Montrose. Breakfast is served up each morning. This Susquehanna County Historical Society and Free Library Association fundraiser offers multiple used book tents, a white elephant sale, crafts, baked goods and blueberry everything – pies, muffins, pizza and berries by the pint. There will be children’s games and a blueberry pie eating contest. AUGUST 12-17

Get ready for the BEST WEEK OF SUMMER!!! The 164th Harford Fair returns with rides, games, entertainment truck & tractor pulls and the Jackpot Demolition Derby. The fairgrounds are filled with your favorite fair foods, vendors and community organizations. Check out the historical exhibits, prize-winning baked goods and handicrafts and the barns for a chance to get a close up look at cows, sheep, goats, pigs and horses and chat with the farmers who raise them.
